Activision and Hasbro have announced - actually, the announcement has been out for some time now - that the sequel to the enormously successful PC/console game War for Cybertron will debut on June 14, 2011. As you might have guessed, it will be called Dark of the Moon (named after the upcoming third movie in the Transformers franchise), and will dazzle with graphics even better than Revenge of the Fallen, the second generation PC game.
I imagine that, although Dark of the Moon is being released about two weeks before the actual movie, it will avoid giving away much more than is already known through the Transformers trailers. The game revolves around a beaten but far from defeated Megatron having yet another devastating weapon up his sleeve: the Decepticon Shockwave.
It would probably be a mistake to think of Shockwave as 'merely' an underling of Megatron's, however. Sure, Megatron left him behind to control or look over Cybertron while he went off into the cosmos after Optimus Prime, searching for the All-Spark. But then, remember that Blackout/Grindor was also just an underling of the Decepticon leader, and yet it took out a military base - easily. We have every reason to believe that it might take the combined might of both Optimus and Sentinel Prime to deal with Shockwave and the other minions that will surely be supporting him.
